Why I don't write dark romance... 🫣

Hi there,

ā˜€ļøHow are you doing? We had a wonderful warm day yesterday, it feels like summer is on the way, even though there’s a few months to wait. I’m planning out my new series Seven Brides for Seven Bikers, with the first book Bad Boy Biker’s Bride out on 14 May. High Vale is a new world with connections to Snowflake Falls and Ember Heart. But there’s a shady corporations slowly corrupting this cute small town and the local biker gang are the only ones who can fight it!

When I started publishing, dark romance was getting really popular. Social media was all about the most shocking, darkest thing you could find. So I thought I’d hop on the trend and discovered writing it is not for me! While I enjoy a darker read, I don’t want to write high angst, cheating and pitch black MMCs. I want bad boys who are secret cinnamon rolls for their girl and cozy HEAs. How about you? Do you prefer dark or lighter romance… or both?

I run from my wedding… straight into the arms of a biker who decides I’m his.

High Vale Lodge is supposed to be where I say ā€œI do.ā€ Instead, I run. Right into Striker’s bar, still wearing my wedding dress.

Striker isn’t part of the plan.

former cage fighter, he’s a mountain of a man who knows how to handle a fight. Scarred and dangerous, he watches everything from behind the bar.

When the men I’m running from come to take me back, he steps in. The moment his hand closes around mine, I belong to him.

And he’s ready to burn the world to prove it.

šŸ”„ Snowflake Falls Fire Department was such a fun series to write. We had grumpy/sunshine, enemies to lovers and forced proximity (I love a good snowstorm0! Did you know there’s a collection with all six stories (also available in Kindle Unlimited)?

Six hot firefighters meet the curvy girls of their dreams in this sizzling collection!

This collection of six instalove short reads features two brand new bonus epilogues and includes:

šŸ”„ His Flame: a scarred hero, shy curvy girl, boss-employee romance
šŸ”„ His Heat: an age gap ex-military protector romance
šŸ”„ His Fire: a grumpy/sunshine, safe stalker romance
šŸ”„ His Passion: an enemies to lovers short romance
šŸ”„ His Desire: a forced proximity mountain man romance
šŸ”„ His Obsession: a protective hero, curvy baker romance

Each of these interconnected one-hour romance reads are perfect for a lunch break or before bed read. No cheating, swoon-worthy heroes and always a HEA.

šŸ˜ My friend Pippa Brook has a sizzling story to read out now called Rescued by the Mountain Grump.

This growly mountain man never stood a chance.

Jenny
I don’t take risks. I make plans, follow rules, and stay exactly where I’m supposed to be. Until I step off the trail to save a stranded dog… and end up stuck on the side of a ravine with no way out.

Then he finds me.

Micah is big, gruff, and built like he belongs to the mountains. The kind of man who gives orders in a low voice and expects you to listen… and somehow makes you want to.

He rescues me like it’s nothing.

I should thank him and go back to my perfectly controlled life. Instead, I invite him to dinner.

And one night changes everything.

šŸ’– Have a wonderful weekend!
Jessa xx

😺 P.S. I need a name for the cat who lives at the biker bar in Bad Boy Biker’s Bride. Any ideas? Hit reply and let me know…
